Working Futures is a career assessment and job readiness program available only by referral from the New Hampshire Employment Program.

Choosing the job that is right for you and your family can be difficult.

Working Futures can help you make a good career decision for now and for later.

At the end of the program, you will:

Know Yourself

  • Know how your reading and math skills are and how you learn best
  • Know what kinds of jobs you are interested in
  • Know your career values including what is most important to you in a job
  • Know what skills you already have to offer an employer including transferable skills, adaptive skills and technical skills
  • Know what skills will lead to job burnout for you
  • Know your aptitudes including what you are good at, what you have the potential to learn easily and where your weaknessess are so you can improve them.
  • Know your personality traits including your strongest personal characteristics and how to use those in your job search

Explore Careers

  • Explore Careers that match your interests, values, skills, abilities and personality
  • Determine possible stop-gap jobs that will get you to work immediately and off TANF
  • Develop your long-term career goals which will help you to be economically self-sufficient in the future
  • Creat a plan that leads you from your stop-gap job to your long-term career goal
  • Research local companies that are hiring for your stop-gap job and your long-term career
  • Get to Work Faster!

Market Yourself

  • Customize general job search techniques that show the connection between who you are, what you can do and what the employer needs
  • Use your knowledge about yourself to create a powerful resume and cover letter
  • Develop a 30-second commercial about yourself that can be used for networking
  • Write a script for cold-calling that will set you apart from all the other job searchers
  • Complete a sample job application that reflects the information that an employer is looking for
  • Practice interviewing questions on a daily basis so that job interviews aren't so stressful- you'll know wahwt to say and how to say it
