Large, open classrooms, a spacious cafeteria and two separate age-appropriate playgrounds overlooking the West Concord Garrison Park make First Start a special place for children to learn and play.

Our eat-in cafeteria has a full-service kitchen. Our full-time cook prepares breakfast, lunch and snack for all our children. Our menus are planned according to the dietary guidelines set by the NH Department of Education Bureau of Food and Nutrition and they provide all the necessary components needed to make a well-balanced and nutritious diet. Our fully equipped playgrounds were designed specifically for toddlers and preschoolers. These "outdoor classrooms" give children the space to develop gross motor skills in a safe environment. Our playgrounds offer a child safety surface designed to minimize impact from falls by providing a "cushion" and, with its unique drainage system, the surface is dry and available for use very quickly even after the heaviest rainfalls. The balance beams, sand boxes with shade cover, slides, swings, crawling tunnels, monkey bars and bike area offer kids many opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors.

The center also enjoys the added benefits of Garrison Park, a City of Concord recreational park. This park, adjacent to the center playground offers the same unique safety surface, school-age appropriate climbing equipment, swings, sliding board, play sand area and basketball courts. There is also a fenced-in, in-ground pool with certified lifeguards and a clean well-kept bathhouse with restrooms and changing areas. Here, our older kids get to cool off, learn to swim and just relax in the summer heat. Private swimming lessons are included in your tuition for five to nine year olds through the Concord Parks & Recreation Program.
