Both of Second Start’s buildings have been tested for asbestos and the results are outlined below:

Garrison School Building at 17 Knight Street

The building was tested in 1989 for asbestos. The asbestos containing materials were removed prior to the building renovations in 1989. The documentation of the abatement project is on file for inspection at the Administrative Office.

Firehouse Building at 450 North State Street

The building was tested in 2009 for asbestos. A small amount was found in the joint compound (less than 2%) in the basement area. This material is monitored and inspected for damage every six months. Results of that monitoring, as well as the 2009 inspection are available for review in the school’s Administrative Office.
